Senior’s Grant Program allows the eligible seniors to use their home equity and remain in their homes and maintain their independence. Eligible seniors can apply for a low-interest home equity loan to cover repairs, adaptations, and/or renovations to their primary residence. A maximum loan of $40,000 is available to seniors and senior couples with an annual total income of $75,000 or less and who have a minimum of 25 percent home equity in their primary residence.
SHARP provides a maximum loan of up to $40,000 to Alberta seniors and senior couples with a total annual income of $75,000 or less, and a minimum of 25% home equity in your primary residence where the work is to be completed.
Repay the loan at any time, but it will automatically become due when:

You sell your home.
You are no longer a registered owner.
The home is no longer your primary residence.
To be eligible for SHARP, you must have an annual income of $75,000 or less and be 65 years of age or older. You must also be listed as a registered owner of a residential property and be a Canadian citizen and Alberta resident.
In case you are a single senior not eligible for the loan due to annual income less than $28,785, or a senior couple with annual income less than $46,745, you may be contacted by SHARP and may be considered for a grant to help cover some basic and essential home repairs. Your application will be viewed, and you will be informed of any financial assistance for which you may be eligible.
